These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The Devialet Mania ranks #54 of 117 large speakers by sound quality at $899; the Sonos Roam 2 ranks #93 of 178 medium speakers by sound quality at $178.
The Devialet Mania is the deeper-bass choice. A compact, good looking Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stereo speaker with Alexa built in and splash resistance. Its bass reaches about 47Hz before falling 10dB, against 63Hz for the Sonos Roam 2. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Sonos Roam 2 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Sonos Roam 2. Watch for: Not very loud.
The Sonos Roam 2 is the lighter option. A small Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker with water resistance, Alexa built in and Sonos multiroom support. At 0.9 lbs (429 g) it weighs much less than the Devialet Mania at 5.1 lbs (2.3 kg). It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Devialet Mania lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Devialet Mania lacks. The catch: Exact same sound quality as the original Sonos Roam.
Buy the Devialet Mania at $899 if you want a large speaker. Buy the Sonos Roam 2 at $178 if you want a medium speaker instead.
