#22 Monoprice DT-3: $139.99/pair Monoprice eBay

Pros: A very inexpensive compact powered pair with front volume, auxiliary input and headphone output plus rear RCA input. Erin’s high-quality Spinorama data measures 69Hz extension and improves from a -0.17 standalone preference score to 2.76 with a subwoofer.

Cons: Both Spinorama scores are poor, indicating substantial response problems even after bass is redirected to a subwoofer. The small shared-amplifier design has limited output and headroom, offers no digital input or Bluetooth, and needs manual power control.

How it compares: Just above it: Presonus Eris E3.5 2nd Gen - $40 cheaper.
