#24 KEF R2c: $1,299.99 each Discontinued eBay
Newer model: the KEF R2 Meta, ranked higher, rated 4.3/5.
Pros: A sealed three-way center with KEF’s Uni-Q coaxial driver (1” aluminum tweeter inside a 5” midrange) between two 5.25” woofers. Erin’s Audio Corner measured even coverage of about ±50 degrees both horizontally and vertically, so it sounds consistent above or below a screen and across a wide sofa. Preference score 4.37, rising to 7.22 with an ideal subwoofer. Measured bass extension of 79.8Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Bass rolls off at 79.8Hz (-3dB) and about 54Hz (-10dB), and the listening window spans 3.4dB from 300Hz to 5kHz. KEF replaced it with the R2 Meta. Discontinued.
How it compares: Just above it: JBL Synthesis SAM3HA - $200 more, 2Hz higher bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Revel Performa4 C245 - $200 more, 1Hz lower bass extension (-3dB).
