#142 Sivga SV023: $449.00 Amazon $449.00 eBay
Pros: A walnut open back with a 50 mm beryllium plated driver at about $449 with a preference score of 82. The midrange stays within about 1 dB of target and treble above 8 kHz is near neutral, and a 4.4 mm balanced cable with a 3.5 mm adapter is included.
Cons: Sub bass is 3.7 dB low at 30 Hz with a 3 dB upper bass bump, so bass sounds warm rather than deep. At 300 ohms and 105 dB it needs a capable amp, and the score rests on a single measurement. See headphone amps and DACs with enough power to drive it.
Is the Sivga SV023 right for you?
Buy it if
- you want the tuning most listeners prefer in blind tests out of the box (Harman score 82).
- your taste runs warm: it scores 90 for that sound.
- you want sub-bass rumble that reaches down to 20 Hz.
Skip it if
- you will plug straight into a phone or laptop: at 300 ohms it needs a headphone amp.
- you need isolation or will use it in public: open-back headphones leak sound both ways.
- you want the best value: the higher-rated Kiwi Ears x Z Reviews Serene costs about $338 less.

Frequency Response
How the Sivga SV023 measures across the audible range, against the Harman over-ear target that most listeners prefer in blind tests. Where the line sits above the target that range sounds louder (more bass, brighter treble), below it quieter. The curve is a single measurement, and both lines are shifted so their 500 Hz to 2 kHz average sits at 0 dB.
