The Huawei Sound Joy’s replacement, the Huawei Sound Joy 2, is rated 3.5/5 at $154.73.
The Sound Joy is the more refined speaker, but it is discontinued. A racetrack woofer, a 19mm silk dome tweeter and two passive radiators reach 56Hz before falling 10dB, Alan Ross measured 100dB, and it claims 26 hours of battery. Its app EQ switches with orientation and supports AAC. Its treble is boosted, so the Devialet preset with a +6dB setting sounds best.
The Sound Outdoor gets close for much less and is still sold. A woofer, tweeter and two passive radiators on 30W give it decent sound for its size, it is rated IP67 and links with other Xiaomi speakers. Its bass is boosted and gets loose at high volume, its battery is rated for 12 hours, and it has no app or EQ.
Buy the Xiaomi Sound Outdoor, since the Huawei Sound Joy is discontinued and only worth hunting down used.
