Short answer: the Boom Go 3i if the extra features and higher rating justify the price to you; the PocketGo if you just want a cheap, functional pocket speaker. These rank #27 and #2 out of 47 small portable speakers, at $22.99 and $79.99, with the Boom Go 3i costing $57 more.
The Boom Go 3i is the more capable speaker on paper. It matches the PocketGo’s IP68 rating, runs 24 hours against 20, and its USB-C port doubles as a power bank for charging your phone - something the PocketGo can’t do. It also adds an RGB light strip that syncs to music. Our own notes aren’t fully sold on its tuning though, flagging a piercing, metallic quality and a peak around 10kHz alongside some bass knocking.
The PocketGo is simply the cheaper, simpler option - no lights, no power-bank function, just a small speaker at roughly a quarter of the Boom Go 3i’s price.
Buy the Boom Go 3i for the extra features and higher overall rating. Buy the PocketGo if you want to spend as little as possible and don’t need the lights or power-bank function.

Pros: Fuller low end than the JBL Go 5, despite the JBL’s clearer, more typical JBL sound. Costs about half the price of the JBL Go 5. Can stand, hang from its loop, or lay flat on its feet for flexible placement. About on par with the Soundcore Select 4 Go, and a touch louder at lower volumes. App support with signature EQ and customization.
Cons: Battery life isn’t the biggest for this speaker class. JBL Go 5 has better build quality plus lightshow, Auracast, and AirTouch. Loses more bass than the Soundcore Select 4 Go at maximum volume. Slightly nasal quality to the sound.
