Short answer: these aren’t really direct competitors. The Uboom X ranks #1 out of 72 party-size speakers at $128; the Rockster Air 2 ranks #13 at $499.99, roughly $371.99 more. One is a compact, carry-anywhere Bluetooth speaker; the other is a wheel-free but still substantial party rig built around XLR inputs and long runtime.
The Uboom X is built for portability and tuning accuracy, not scale. At 4.1 kg (9 lbs) it’s a fraction of the Rockster Air 2’s 14.15 kg (31.2 lbs), and our own notes rate its tuning as close to reference-neutral - among the most accurate of any modern Bluetooth speaker, with per-volume EQ correction that keeps it sounding right whether it’s quiet or loud. It also has an IP67 rating the Rockster Air 2 doesn’t carry at all.
The Rockster Air 2 is built for scale and real inputs, not portability. Its 80W output, larger drivers, and full XLR line/microphone/guitar inputs are aimed at filling a bigger space or plugging in real instruments, not fitting in a bag. It even out-lasts the Uboom X on battery, 58 hours against 30, but that number matters less than it sounds like it should - the Uboom X’s small size means you’ll actually carry it to places the Rockster Air 2 never will.
Buy the Uboom X if you want an exceptionally well-tuned, genuinely portable speaker at a fraction of the price. Buy the Rockster Air 2 if you need real output and pro-style inputs for an actual event, not a speaker that fits in a bag.
If battery life is a priority, the Teufel Rockster Air 2 is rated for 58 hours versus 30 hours for the Earfun Uboom X.
If water resistance matters to you, the Earfun Uboom X at IP67 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the Teufel Rockster Air 2 at no water resistance.

The Two Speakers In Full
Teufel Rockster Air 2: $499.99 Amazon
Pros: More consistent off-axis sound than the JBL Partybox 130, thanks to its single horn-loaded compression driver. Projects sound more evenly to the sides, unlike the JBL’s narrower front-firing dispersion. Cleaner instrument separation at high volume than the JBL Partybox 130, which turns anemic and loses bass at max volume despite its bass boost.
Cons: Bass isn’t as deep as the JBL Partybox 130’s boosted bass, though the JBL’s is boomy rather than truly deep. Bass and treble aren’t perfectly controlled at maximum volume - can sound hollow or too bright unless turned down from default. Not meaningfully louder than its 3-year-old predecessor, and the reviewer found the overall tuning a bit worse.

Earfun Uboom X: $128 Discontinued Myearfun Amazon
Pros: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the Earfun Uboom L.
Cons: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible. Some people have mentioned sound interruption issues when using 2 in TWS, I don’t have this issue with my Pixel 7 Pro, try disabling AAC in that case. Discontinued.
Setup: Please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. The Earfun app has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. Oluv has a newer firmware pack that brings it up a few more notches of neutral
