Short answer: the Rockster 2 if outright loudness, off-axis clarity, and DJ-style inputs matter more than price; the Partybox 720 if $369.99 and weatherproofing matter more. These rank #3 and #4 out of 10 large-party speakers, at $1269.94 and $899.95.
Outdoors, the Rockster 2 has the edge in exactly the way you’d hope for the extra money. Side by side at increasing volume, the Partybox 720 started scratching and hit its output ceiling well before the Rockster 2 did, and the difference held up at 50 meters (164 ft) outdoors - the Rockster 2 stayed clear and covered the space evenly. Its horn-loaded tweeter is a big reason why: dispersion holds together off-axis, while the Partybox 720’s two separate tweeters interfere with each other and comb-filter as you move to the side.
The Partybox 720 doesn’t lose everywhere. It still has the deeper low end of the two - the Rockster 2 isn’t quite as deep, and what bass it has backs off further at high volume, the opposite of ideal for a speaker built to fill a big space. The 720 also carries a real IPX4 splash rating against the Rockster 2’s lighter IPX2 (light rain and dust only), which matters if this is actually going outside.
The Rockster 2 is built more like a small PA rig than a party speaker. Beyond the usual aux and XLR inputs, it adds a built-in 2-channel DJ mixer and a DMX port for controlling external lighting, neither of which the Partybox 720 offers. That’s a real differentiator if you’re running actual sound for an event rather than just soundtracking a backyard party.
Both are wheeled, mains-optional stationary units, not something you’re carrying far. The Rockster 2 is the heavier of the two at 43.79 kg (96.5 lbs) against the Partybox 720’s 31 kg (68.3 lbs), and both run about 15 hours on battery.
Buy the Partybox 720 if $369.99 matters and you don’t need the DJ mixer or DMX out - you’re still getting deeper bass and better weather resistance for less. Buy the Rockster 2 if you want the louder, cleaner-projecting speaker of the two and can use the extra I/O.

Teufel Rockster 2: $1,269.94
Pros: Sounds better and more evenly tuned than the JBL Partybox 720. Horn-loaded tweeter gives far more consistent off-axis sound, unlike the Partybox 720’s dual tweeters, which suffer from comb-filtering interference. Gets louder without distorting - the Partybox 720 starts breaking up at high volume well before this does. Projects clearly over long outdoor distances, covering a large area evenly.
Cons: Not quite as deep bass as the JBL Partybox 720. Bass output drops off further at high volume.

Pros: Biggest best sounding speaker with a battery. Handle and wheels are convenient. Lightshow ability.
Cons: Very large and heavy. Note, JBL daisychain is not compatible with any other non-JBL speaker and is possibly a fully digital signal. Somewhat dark sounding by default, needs some treble boost to sound neutral
