Short answer: the Klipsch Groove, if you are buying new. The Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 ranks higher than it (#4 vs #105 of 157 medium speakers, 4.4/5 vs 2.8/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Klipsch Groove is still sold new at $9.
The Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 is the better-sounding, longer-running option. A very neutral good sounding inexpensive small speaker with quite deep bass for the size. It is rated for 12 hours of battery against 8 for the Klipsch Groove. At 1.3 lbs (590 g) it weighs noticeably less than the Klipsch Groove at 1.7 lbs (770 g). It is rated IPX7 against IPX4 for the Klipsch Groove. Watch for: Slight DSP tuning issue which makes bass get lighter at times at very low volumes, examples in oluv’s video.
Why pick the Klipsch Groove: Pretty balanced sound in a compact, splash-resistant form factor. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 lacks. The catch: Bass doesn’t go as deep as class leaders.
Buy the Klipsch Groove new; the Soundcore Boost “upgraded” 2021 is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
