Short answer: the Sony ULT Tower 10, though neither is a sound-quality pick. It ranks #10 of 12 large party speakers at $898.99, one spot ahead of the SRS-XV900 at #11 for $900. Both sit near the bottom of their class, so this is really a choice between two similar tradeoffs rather than a clear win.
One note: the Sony SRS-XV900 is discontinued and no longer widely available new.
Bass is the shared weak point for both speakers. The ULT Tower 10’s own notes say it isn’t as deep in the bass and loses more bass at high volume than even lower-end Partybox speakers, despite being louder than the Partybox Ultimate. The SRS-XV900’s notes go further, describing it as losing more bass at high volume than the Partybox 310 and every other speaker Sony compared it against, even though it can get slightly louder than that Partybox 310.
The SRS-XV900 actually packs more drivers, but it doesn’t translate to a ranking win. It uses 9 drivers total, including larger 4.7-inch midranges and 2-inch front tweeters, versus 7 drivers on the ULT Tower 10 with smaller 3.1-inch midranges. The ULT Tower 10 counters with more output power at 139W versus 100W, and it’s the newer design, including an included wireless microphone and Auracast party mode versus the SRS-XV900’s Sony Party Connect.
If sound quality genuinely matters to you, both notes suggest looking elsewhere in the category rather than choosing between these two on tonal merit alone.
Buy the Sony ULT Tower 10 if you want the current-generation model with a wireless mic included and slightly more output power.
Buy the Sony SRS-XV900 only if you find one secondhand at a meaningfully lower price than the ULT Tower 10, since Sony has moved on from this line.
