The Sony’s dual 6.69-inch woofers and multi-tweeter X-Balanced units with a rear tweeter aim for 360-degree sound, at the cost of a weird midrange peak.
Buy the Sony SRS-XP700 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the JBL Partybox Stage 320 instead.
There is a real gap in water resistance: the LG XL7 at IPX4 (splashing) against the Sony SRS-XP700, which has no water resistance.
