RCF KX 08-A vs Vue Audiotechnik A-8

Last updated: September 7, 2026

Short answer: it depends on whether you want self-powered convenience or the better-measuring cabinet. These rank #6 and #7 out of 15 8-inch powered PA speakers, and the two take very different approaches to the same size class.

The KX 08-A is RCF’s flagship 8-inch point source, but it hasn’t produced a confirmed measurement result. It packs a 2000W amplifier, a PKX-dome neodymium compression driver and a rotatable 90° x 70° horn with RDNet remote control into a manageable 12.5kg cabinet, at $3300. Its local Spinorama measurement is truncated, though, so there’s no computed preference score to confirm its tonal performance.

The A-8 is passive, but its measured result is the strongest of the two. Low-quality vendor data still shows a 4.79 ideal-subwoofer preference score, the best documented result between these two, from a neodymium woofer and aluminum-dome compression driver on a rotatable 70° x 55° horn. Being passive, it needs external amplification and processing to run, adding setup cost and complexity the self-powered KX 08-A avoids, and its measured bass extension is shallow at roughly 90Hz.

What the KX 08-A adds:

Buy the KX 08-A if you want a self-powered, network-controllable point source and don’t need a confirmed measurement to trust RCF’s flagship engineering.

Buy the A-8 if you already have amplification in place and want the better-documented measured result, and don’t mind the shallower bass extension.

Pros: Low-quality vendor data shows a 4.79 ideal-subwoofer preference score, the strongest measured result among the passive entries in this ranking. A neodymium woofer and aluminum-dome compression driver on a rotatable 70° x 55° horn keep amplification and DSP choices flexible for installers.

Cons: Being passive, it needs an external amplifier and processing to perform correctly, adding cost and complexity that self-powered rivals avoid. Measured bass extension is shallow at roughly 90Hz.
