RCF ART 745-A MK4 vs FBT J15A

Last updated: September 7, 2026

Short answer: neither is a clear buy today, but the FBT J15A is the safer choice if price matters. These rank #21 and #22 out of 29 15-inch powered PA speakers, separated by a $639 price gap.

Both lack confirmed measured results. The ART 745-A MK4’s low-quality vendor data is truncated and does not yield a preference score. The J15A’s medium-quality data does compute a score, 3.25, but its own review notes that result is on the lower end for this ranking, and detailed coverage, SPL and weight figures were not confirmed in local data either.

The ART 745-A MK4 has the larger driver, but is discontinued. Its largest ART7-tier compression driver and 133dB claimed peak give it useful vocal headroom for a 15-inch box at a light 18.8kg. Its own review is direct that it is eclipsed by the better-supported ART 745-A MK5, so it only makes sense at a meaningful discount versus that newer model.

The J15A extends FBT’s compact J-series design to a 15-inch woofer. It shares the wedge-capable format of the J12A and J8A, with 61Hz measured extension, but its own review flags that its preference score is on the lower end for this ranking.

Buy the FBT J15A for a simple, wedge-capable box at a lower price when detailed spec confirmation matters less than cost.

Buy the RCF ART 745-A MK4 only at a substantial discount versus the current ART 745-A MK5, since the MK4 brings no confirmed measured advantage of its own.

Skip the FBT J15A if sound quality matters to you. It ranks near the bottom of the 29 15-inch two-way powered pa speakers.
