The 112P posts the highest preference score in this size class, but it is a discontinued cabinet. Its medium-quality vendor data returns a 8.09 ideal-subwoofer preference score, the category’s best, with 60Hz measured extension and symmetric 90-degree coaxial coverage that gives strong feedback resistance for monitor and near-field work. Its own review is direct that it is difficult to source today, very heavy at 70.5 lbs (32 kg) for a portable 12-inch box, and lacks modern networking or an onboard mixer, so its ranking reflects acoustic performance rather than present-day ownership convenience.
The K12.2 is close behind and easy to actually buy. Low-quality vendor data still returns a 7.73 preference score with 48Hz extension, deeper than the 112P’s. At 39 lbs (17.7 kg) it is barely half the 112P’s weight, with extensive onboard DSP and a long market track record backing it up.
Everything else favors the K12.2 for practicality: a 75-degree conical horn versus the 112P’s 90-degree pattern, a lighter ABS cabinet versus 18/24/30mm Baltic birch plywood, and active purchase links versus none for the discontinued L-Acoustics box.
Buy the QSC K12.2 for the deeper bass extension, far lighter cabinet, and the fact that it is a current product you can order today.
Buy the L-Acoustics 112P only if you find one used at a strong discount and specifically want its coaxial dispersion for monitor or near-field duty.
