Short answer: the Soundcore Mini. It ranks #13 of 62 small speakers by sound quality, rated 3.8/5, at $29.99. The Monster Bluetooth Speaker ranks #39, rated 3.0/5, at $19.99, $10 cheaper, a saving that is not big enough to make up the sound-quality gap.
The Monster Bluetooth Speaker is the tougher choice. A very cheap, light waterproof travel speaker with USB-C charging, aux and microSD playback, and stereo pairing. It is rated IPX7, while the Soundcore Mini has no water resistance. It charges over USB-C rather than Micro USB. Watch for: Its tiny 36mm driver has very limited bass (about 95Hz at -10dB), elevated mids and rolled-off highs.
The Soundcore Mini is the better-sounding, longer-running option. A palm sized budget speaker with a 15 hour battery, an FM radio and microSD playback. It is rated for 15 hours of battery against 6.5 for the Monster Bluetooth Speaker. The catch: Bass does not reach as deep as higher-ranked speakers.
Buy the Soundcore Mini. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $10 you would save on the Monster Bluetooth Speaker does not close the gap.
