Short answer: the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt. It ranks #46 of 73 subwoofers by sound quality (rated 3.2/5) at $224.99 and is still sold new; the PSB Speakers SubSeries 100 ranks #71 (rated 2.6/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.
The Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt is the better-sounding pick. A low cost ported 8 inch subwoofer with a 200 watt amp, an easy entry point for a first subwoofer. Watch for: Very compact 18.5 lbs (8.4 kg) size, limited 106.4 dB output, ported room interaction, and entry-level build.
What the PSB Speakers SubSeries 100 does well: A tiny, light sealed subwoofer that tucks almost anywhere to add some bass to a small desk or bedroom system. Watch for: Deep-bass output is limited relative to its midbass result, so it is not the right choice for the lowest movie effects.
Buy the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt. It is rated higher for sound quality; the PSB Speakers SubSeries 100 is no longer sold new.
