Short answer: both are discontinued, so this only matters if you are buying used. Used, the Minirig 2 is the better pick: it ranks #9 of 164 medium speakers by sound quality (rated 4.3/5), against #88 (rated 3.2/5) for the JBL Charge 3. If you want one new, the Earfun Uboom L ranks #2 at $49.79.

The Minirig 2 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass pick. Modular, can easily attach a subwoofer. Its bass reaches about 54Hz before falling 10dB, against 63Hz for the JBL Charge 3. It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 20 for the JBL Charge 3. At 1.1 lbs (488 g) it weighs much less than the JBL Charge 3 at 1.8 lbs (800 g). The catch: Calls itself splash resistant and has no official water rating.
The JBL Charge 3 is the louder, tougher choice. Doubles as a 6000mAh power bank for USB devices. ~20 hour battery life. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 100dB at full volume, against 95dB for the Minirig 2. It is rated IPX7 against Splash resistant for the Minirig 2. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Minirig 2. Watch for: Less clarity than the Flip 4.
Buy the Minirig 2 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the Earfun Uboom L instead.
