Short answer: the NuQ82, unless you can find a used 108P and don’t mind hunting for one. These rank #2 and #3 out of 47 8-inch powered PA speakers, and the difference comes down to measured performance versus practical buyability.
The 108P measures better, but it’s a self-powered legacy cabinet you can’t just order. Its 61Hz bass extension and 7.32 ideal-subwoofer preference score (from medium-quality vendor data) are genuinely strong for a compact 8-inch coaxial box, and the coaxial layout gives it tight, consistent dispersion. The catch is that it’s discontinued, hard to source, and has no onboard mixer or modern networking, so its ranking reflects acoustic performance rather than present-day ownership convenience.
The NuQ82 trades some measured bass reach for flexibility. It’s passive rather than self-powered, needing an external amplifier and crossover to work at all, but that also means installers can pick their own amplification and DSP. Its 52Hz measured extension is actually the deepest of any 8-inch box in this ranking, coming from a switchable passive/bi-amp coaxial design, though the low-quality vendor data behind its 5.1 preference score carries more uncertainty than the 108P’s medium-quality measurement. At 123dB peak, it also trails every active speaker in the category.
Everything else is a tradeoff: the 108P’s 760W built-in amplification versus the NuQ82’s external-amp dependency, and the 108P’s simple pole-mount rigging versus the NuQ82’s eight M10 and three M8 fly points for permanent installs.
Buy the NuQ82 if you want a currently available 8-inch coaxial box and already have (or plan to add) outboard amplification and processing.
Buy the 108P only if you can find one used and specifically want its measured bass extension and coaxial dispersion for near-field monitor or fill duty, and don’t need onboard amplification or modern networking.
