Different classes, so treat this as a step-up-or-not question rather than a head-to-head. The KEF LS60 ranks #2 of 14 powered floorstanding speakers by sound quality at $5,999.99; the Devialet Phantom I ranks #83 of 118 powered bookshelf speakers by sound quality at $4,800.

The KEF LS60 is the more accurate choice. Erin’s on-axis measurement combines a 1.9dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz with a 7.91 ideal-subwoofer preference score, supporting even vocal and instrumental balance. Its measured preference score, a predictor of how neutral it sounds, is 7.26 against 5.76 for the Devialet Phantom I. The tradeoff: A diffraction dip around 9kHz can soften cymbal shimmer when aimed directly at the listener; 10-20 degrees of toe-out helps.
The case for the Devialet Phantom I: Devialet’s spherical all-in-one wireless speaker with opposed woofers and a coaxial mid and tweeter. The tradeoff: The measurements are Devialet’s own and stop at about 22Hz, so the true bass extension is not shown.
One note: the Devialet Phantom I is no longer in production and isn’t widely stocked new anymore. The Devialet Phantom I’s replacement, the Devialet Phantom Ultimate 108dB, is still sold new.
Buy the KEF LS60 at $5,999.99 for a powered floorstanding speaker, or the Devialet Phantom I at $4,800 for a powered bookshelf speaker instead.

Frequency Response Compared
Both speakers’ spinorama measurements, overlaid. A flatter line is more neutral: peaks sound forward or harsh, dips sound recessed. Each curve is shifted so its average from 300 Hz to 3 kHz sits at 0 dB, so loudness differences between the two are removed and only the shape is compared. The two were measured by different sources, so small differences, especially in the bass, can come from the measurement setup rather than the speakers.

Same family: the KEF LSX II LT (smallest bookshelf, rated 4/5), the KEF LSX II (bookshelf, estimated 4.1/5) and the KEF LS50 Wireless II (largest bookshelf, rated 4.3/5).
Pros: Erin’s on-axis measurement combines a 1.9dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz with a 7.91 ideal-subwoofer preference score, supporting even vocal and instrumental balance. Extended-mode bass reaches roughly 25Hz at -3dB. The coaxial Uni-Q arrangement maintains unusually consistent tonality across listening positions, while HDMI, digital and analog inputs plus network streaming make this a convenient complete music and TV system. Measured bass extension of 23Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 97.7dB.
Cons: A diffraction dip around 9kHz can soften cymbal shimmer when aimed directly at the listener; 10-20 degrees of toe-out helps. DSP limiting reduces bass reach and dynamic output at high volume, so its deep low-level extension is not a promise of the same performance on loud peaks. App placement and tone controls are less flexible than parametric room correction. Each roughly 31kg tower is awkward to move.

Devialet Phantom I: $4,800 per pair Discontinued eBay
Newer model: the Devialet Phantom Ultimate 108dB, ranked higher, rated 4.4/5, released Apr 2026. See every Devialet Phantom generation.
Pros: Devialet’s spherical all-in-one wireless speaker with opposed woofers and a coaxial mid and tweeter. Devialet’s measurements show bass holding up to the lowest frequency in the data (about 22Hz) and a preference score of 5.76 without a subwoofer, with consistent directivity (2.86dB directivity index deviation).
Cons: The measurements are Devialet’s own and stop at about 22Hz, so the true bass extension is not shown. The listening window spans 4.5dB from 300Hz to 5kHz. Replaced by the Phantom Ultimate. Discontinued.
