KEF LS LUXE vs Devialet Phantom I

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Short answer: the KEF LS LUXE. It ranks #42 of 118 powered bookshelf speakers by sound quality (rated 4.4/5) at $3,999.99 and is still sold new; the Devialet Phantom I ranks #83 (rated 4.0/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used. The Devialet Phantom I’s replacement, the Devialet Phantom Ultimate 108dB, is rated 4.4/5 at $7,998.

KEF LS LUXE vs Devialet Phantom I

The KEF LS LUXE is the better-sounding choice. Flagship active wireless bookshelf created with Ross Lovegrove, featuring a 6.5-inch 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). It keeps a wired aux input, which the Devialet Phantom I lacks. The catch: Premium $3,999.99 pricing and a sculptural 44.1 lbs (20 kg) system weight place it well above conventional desktop monitors, and the organic curved enclosure cannot be wall mounted.

The case for the Devialet Phantom I: Devialet’s spherical all-in-one wireless speaker with opposed woofers and a coaxial mid and tweeter. The catch: The measurements are Devialet’s own and stop at about 22Hz, so the true bass extension is not shown.

Buy the KEF LS LUXE. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Devialet Phantom I is no longer sold new.

About the ratings: the KEF LS LUXE’s rating is estimated from measured siblings and predecessors rather than its own measurements, with a likely range of 4.2 to 4.6, so this verdict could change once it is measured.
