JBL Partybox Encore 2 vs Zealot ZE21

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Partybox Encore 2 for off axis performance, the Zealot ZE21 for value. The Encore 2’s dome tweeters over cone appear better off axis, though it is missing a little bit of upper bass. The ZE21 is great value for bass performance, play time and max volume in the boombox class, though the ZE41 now beats it, and it is a little rolled off up top and not that balanced.

JBL Partybox Encore 2 vs Zealot ZE21

Buy the JBL Partybox Encore 2. It is rated higher for sound quality, and saving $82.59 with the Zealot ZE21 does not make up for the sound-quality gap.

If battery life is a priority, the Zealot ZE21 is rated for 40 hours versus 15 hours for the JBL Partybox Encore 2.

JBL Partybox Encore 2 ranking card

Older model: the JBL Partybox Encore (ranked lower, rated 4.3/5).

Pros: The Encore 2 improves the original with dome tweeters, a less boomy balance, slightly deeper bass, longer battery life and two included wireless microphones. Its compact karaoke-ready design and 7-band EQ make it more adaptable indoors than the earlier Encore. Measured bass extension of 42Hz (-10dB).

Cons: It still lacks some upper-bass punch and cannot match the scale of the larger PartyBoxes. The main value is compact karaoke convenience rather than full-range party output.

Zealot ZE21 ranking card

Pros: The ZE21’s main attraction is unusually deep bass for a battery boombox: owner testing finds real output in the 40-50Hz region and audibility down toward the low 30s. Its TWS button can form a stereo pair with another compatible Zealot, and its large, rugged chassis gives it credible party-speaker scale. Measured bass extension of 36Hz (-10dB).

Cons: That deep-bass emphasis comes with a pronounced 60-110Hz kick-bass dip and over-loud 250-600Hz lower mids, which can make rock and pop sound hollow or boxy. The supplied sound modes do not fully correct the tuning; the most positive independent report required source-side parametric EQ. Treble is also soft and clarity trails better-tuned rivals.
