Short answer: the JBL Partybox Encore 2 if you want the included microphones, the Encore Essential 2 if you would rather save money and bring your own mic setup. These rank #4 and #5 of 75 boombox speakers, and both share the same 135mm woofer and dual dome tweeter layout, so the differences come down to inputs and accessories rather than a big jump in sound.
The core driver design is identical, with small voicing differences. Both speakers moved to dome tweeters over the older cone design, which gives both of them better off axis performance and less rolled off highs than the original Encore. The Encore 2’s own notes call out that it is missing a little upper bass, and the Essential 2 has that same shortfall, so neither one has a clear edge in low end weight.

Pros: The Encore 2 improves the original with dome tweeters, a less boomy balance, slightly deeper bass, longer battery life and two included wireless microphones. Its compact karaoke-ready design and 7-band EQ make it more adaptable indoors than the earlier Encore.
Cons: It still lacks some upper-bass punch and cannot match the scale of the larger PartyBoxes. The main value is compact karaoke convenience rather than full-range party output.

Independent testing finds a balanced midrange, genuinely punchy low bass and enough output for a backyard gathering; its dome tweeters also improve the earlier Encore’s high-frequency behavior.
Cons: It is front-facing, so the sound changes noticeably to the sides and behind it, and bass compression reduces kick-drum impact at maximum volume. Bluetooth latency can cause lip-sync issues, its IPX4 rating only covers splashes, and it omits the wireless microphones bundled with the non-Essential Encore 2.
