What the JBL Partybox Encore 2 does well: The Encore 2 improves the original with dome tweeters, a less boomy balance, slightly deeper bass, longer battery life and two included wireless microphones. The catch: It still lacks some upper-bass punch and cannot match the scale of the larger PartyBoxes.
The case for the W-King X20S: Clearer and smoother than the larger W-King X20 at about half its size and weight, and in side by side tests it held its own against the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3, with nicer, more exposed mids and more volume. The catch: Less bass and depth than the X20 and about 3dB quieter, and at maximum volume its mids and highs start to drown out the bass.
Buy the JBL Partybox Encore 2. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $179.01 saving on the W-King X20S is not enough to make up the difference.
Water resistance is not close: the W-King X20S is rated at IPX7 (brief submersion), well ahead of the JBL Partybox Encore 2 at IPX4 (splashing).

Pros: The Encore 2 improves the original with dome tweeters, a less boomy balance, slightly deeper bass, longer battery life and two included wireless microphones. Its compact karaoke-ready design and 7-band EQ make it more adaptable indoors than the earlier Encore.
Cons: It still lacks some upper-bass punch and cannot match the scale of the larger PartyBoxes. The main value is compact karaoke convenience rather than full-range party output.

Cons: Less bass and depth than the X20 and about 3dB quieter, and at maximum volume its mids and highs start to drown out the bass. With a flat EQ the bass is cut off, so it needs the bass boost. The JBL PartyBox Encore Essential 2 sounded better in a direct comparison. Sold direct from W-King in the US.
