Short answer: the JBL Partybox 710. Both are rated 4.7/5 for sound quality (#6 and #5 of 12 large party speakers), and the JBL Partybox 710 costs $699 against $1099.95 for the JBL Partybox 720, and with sound quality even, the cheaper one is the better buy.
The 710 has no battery whatsoever. It’s AC-only, full stop - a real limitation if you ever plan to use it somewhere without mains power. In exchange, at $699 it’s the cheaper of the two and slightly lighter at 28kg against the 720’s 31kg.
The 720 carries two removable batteries, claimed for 15 hours. That portability is the entire reason to pay $1099.95. It also edges the 710 on a handful of specs that don’t move the sound much day to day: a newer Bluetooth 5.4 radio against 5.1, a 5-band app EQ against 3 bands, Auracast party linking against the older PartyBoost, and slightly larger 9-inch woofers against the 710’s 8-inch pair.
Neither is a neutral indoor speaker. Independent testing on the 720 finds very high output and strong bass, but a dark, bass-heavy default that needs the app EQ dialed in, some compression at very high volume, and uneven off-axis sound from its front-facing driver layout - expect the same general character from the shared-platform 710.
Buy the JBL Partybox 710. Both are rated the same for sound quality, and it costs $400.95 less than the JBL Partybox 720.

Pros: JBL’s most powerful battery-equipped PartyBox combines 800W output, two removable batteries, wheels, a light show, Auracast, USB-C playback, app EQ and karaoke/guitar inputs. Independent testing confirms very high output, strong bass and a flexible 5- or 7-band EQ; it can easily cover a backyard or large event.
Cons: At 31kg and 94cm tall, it is still cumbersome despite the wheels. Its front-facing vertical driver layout gives uneven sound to listeners at the sides or behind it, bass compresses at very high volume and reviewers note a faint hiss. The default is dark/bass-heavy, so use the app EQ and do not expect a neutral indoor hi-fi speaker.
