The JBL Grip is the lighter choice. A small, fully waterproof speaker with app EQ, ambient lighting, Auracast linking and USB-C audio input. At 0.8 lbs (385 g) it weighs much less than the Bogasing M5 at 1.7 lbs (757 g). The catch: Lacking deeper bass, definitely the worst of the JBL line until you get to the smaller clip.
The Bogasing M5 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. A compact, backpack friendly speaker with very long battery life and USB-C charging at a budget price. Its bass reaches about 61Hz before falling 10dB, against 68Hz for the JBL Grip. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 14 for the JBL Grip. It keeps a wired aux input, which the JBL Grip lacks. The catch: Front/rear driver configuration.
Buy the Bogasing M5. It is rated higher for sound quality than the JBL Grip and costs less, which makes it the one to get unless you need something the other one does better.
