JBL Flip 7 vs Ultimate Ears Roll 2

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the Ultimate Ears Roll 2 for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The Ultimate Ears Roll 2 ranks #125 at $100, $29.95 cheaper.

What the JBL Flip 7 offers: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. The catch: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

What the Ultimate Ears Roll 2 gets right: Thin, flat profile fits easily in a bag or purse; light at 0.73 lb. Built-in bungee cord for hanging from a hook, nail, or door handle. The tradeoff: Not stereo. Barely any bass, rolled off treble off axis.

Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Ultimate Ears Roll 2 if the price matters more than sound quality.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Ultimate Ears Roll 2. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.

If battery life is a priority, the JBL Flip 7 is rated for 14 hours versus 9 hours for the Ultimate Ears Roll 2.
