JBL Flip 7 vs Ultimate Ears Boom 3

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7. It ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers by sound quality at $129.95; the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 ranks #89 and costs $149, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

What the JBL Flip 7 offers: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. The tradeoff: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

What the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 gets right: Rich and warm bass without muddying mix, crisp highs, excellent 15-hour battery life, stable Bluetooth connectivity, IP67 rated and floats, rugged fabric shell, can pair up to 150 speakers via PartyUp. The catch: Not stereo, barely any bass, recessed treble. You can tell from the micro USB that they are just feeding you the same crap hardware over and over, this is inexcusable for a product released in 2021.

Buy the JBL Flip 7. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Ultimate Ears Boom 3 and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

Lots of mentions of failing batteries on amazon. Not technically a 360 speaker, only front and rear.
