JBL Flip 7 vs Tribit Stormbox

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the Tribit Stormbox for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The Tribit Stormbox ranks #93 at $68, $61.95 cheaper.

What the JBL Flip 7 gets right: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. The catch: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

The case for the Tribit Stormbox: IPX7 water resistant, dual pairing for stereo setup, excellent battery life (20 hours), instant on/off buttons, 97dB max volume. Watch for: Muffled sounding, treble dips from 5khz-12khz. Listening from the front is the worst frequency response, lay it down facing up with xbass off for the smoothest response.

Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Tribit Stormbox if the price matters more than sound quality.
