JBL Flip 7 vs Tribit Stormbox Mini

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the Tribit Stormbox Mini for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The Tribit Stormbox Mini ranks #116 at $23, $106.95 cheaper.

On the JBL Flip 7 side: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. Watch for: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

What the Tribit Stormbox Mini offers: IPX7 waterproof, excellent battery life (12 hours), RGB LED lighting, app support with AAC codec, true wireless stereo (TWS) capability, USB-C charging. The tradeoff: Lacking quite a bit of bass. Sounds hollow and thuddy. Just not great overall.

Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Tribit Stormbox Mini if the price matters more than sound quality.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Tribit Stormbox Mini. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.
