JBL Flip 7 vs Oontz Angle 3

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the Oontz Angle 3 for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The Oontz Angle 3 ranks #133 at $28, $101.95 cheaper.

What the JBL Flip 7 gets right: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. The tradeoff: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

The case for the Oontz Angle 3: Very light (9.4 oz) and inexpensive. IPX5 rated. The catch: Very harsh treble, no bass.

Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Oontz Angle 3 if the price matters more than sound quality.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Oontz Angle 3. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.

If water resistance matters to you, the JBL Flip 7 at IP68 (extended submersion) holds up far better than the Oontz Angle 3 at IPX5 (water jets).
