JBL Flip 7 vs LG Xboom XG5

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the LG Xboom XG5 for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The LG Xboom XG5 ranks #115 at $99, $30.95 cheaper.

What the JBL Flip 7 offers: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. Watch for: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

On the LG Xboom XG5 side: IP67 rated. 18 hour battery life (~17 hrs confirmed in testing) with fast USB-C charging. The catch: Peaky midrange, rolled off treble. Not very good sounding.

Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the LG Xboom XG5 if the price matters more than sound quality.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the LG Xboom XG5. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.
