Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the Doss Soundbox for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The Doss Soundbox ranks #131 at $79, $50.95 cheaper.
What the JBL Flip 7 offers: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. Watch for: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.
On the Doss Soundbox side: IPX4 splashproof, 12-hour battery life, MicroSD card support, dual full-range drivers, built-in microphone, Bluetooth 4.0, AUX input. The tradeoff: Barely any bass. Sounds like a clock radio. Distorted at higher levels.
Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Doss Soundbox if the price matters more than sound quality.
If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Doss Soundbox. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.
If water resistance matters to you, the JBL Flip 7 at IP68 (extended submersion) holds up far better than the Doss Soundbox at IPX4 (splashing).
