JBL Flip 7 vs Beats Pill+

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Flip 7 for better sound quality, the Beats Pill+ for the lower price. The JBL Flip 7 ranks #14 of 136 medium speakers at $129.95. The Beats Pill+ ranks #128 at $89.07, $40.88 cheaper.

What the JBL Flip 7 gets right: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. Watch for: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.

The case for the Beats Pill+: Compact cylindrical design, smaller than most water bottles. The tradeoff: Peaky midrange and lower treble, very little bass. Not a good sound.

Buy the JBL Flip 7 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Beats Pill+ if the price matters more than sound quality.

If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Beats Pill+. It ranks near the bottom of the 136 medium speakers, so look higher up the list instead.

If water resistance matters to you, the JBL Flip 7 at IP68 (extended submersion) holds up far better than the Beats Pill+ at IPX4 (splashing).
