Short answer: the Flip 6, if you can still find one at its old price. This is the rare generational comparison where the newer speaker measures worse.
The Flip 7 ranks #14; the Flip 6 ranks #12, in the same 133-speaker class, and the Flip 7 costs $20 more. Bass extension goes the wrong way too: 59 Hz on the Flip 7 against 56 Hz on the Flip 6. That is a small difference, but it is a difference in the wrong direction for a newer, pricier model, and it is worth knowing before paying the premium.
What the Flip 7 genuinely adds: a 7-band app EQ against the Flip 6’s 3-band, which matters more than it sounds since it lets you correct the house tuning properly. Auracast pairing, IP68 rather than IP67, 14 hours of battery against 12, and slightly more power.
So the honest recommendation splits:
Buy the Flip 7 if you will use the EQ, if you want your speaker to pair with current JBL models via Auracast, or if the Flip 6 is no longer discounted. The better EQ can close the tuning gap and then some.
Buy the Flip 6 if you want the best measured sound per dollar and are happy to leave it alone, especially at a discount. It is the better speaker out of the box.
Buy neither if you are shopping purely on sound at this price. Both sit outside the top ten of their class, and the medium size ranking has better-measuring options for less money — the EarFun UBoom L takes first place at $50.

The Two Speakers In Full
JBL Flip 6: $129.95 Amazon Bhphotovideo
Pros: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size, a huge sound quality leap over the Flip 5.
Cons: Not stereo. Some slight upper mids emphasis. The TL version (made in Vietnam) tweeter can sound somewhat scratchy and doesn’t sound as good as the GG version (made in China)

JBL Flip 7: $149.95 Amazon
Pros: A very neutral speaker, very small, almost pocket size. Just slightly more treble than the Flip 6 which was already a great speaker. Slightly deeper bass than the Flip 6
Cons: A little bit of a bump at 4khz, not quite as neutral as the FLip 6. I believe this one is slightly worse than the Flip 6.
