The Eon One Compact is really a portable PA system. A professional 4-channel mixer with XLR/TRS preamps and phantom power for condenser mics, an 8-inch woofer extending to 37.5Hz, and a ducking feature that auto-lowers music when it detects speech. Our notes say it gets quite distorted at full volume with rolled-off treble.
The Everse 8 is simpler: good midrange and treble, built for loudness over depth. It isn’t stereo, and it’s tuned for more output than deep bass, but it doesn’t have the Eon One Compact’s distortion problem at volume.
Buy the Everse 8 for straightforward loud sound. Buy the Eon One Compact if you actually need the mixer inputs and phantom power for mics and instruments.
There is a real gap in water resistance: the Electro-Voice Everse 8 at IP43 (light spray) against the JBL Eon One Compact, which has no water resistance.
