EarFun Uboom X vs Soundcore Motion Boom+

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Short answer: both are discontinued, so this only matters if you are buying used. Used, the EarFun Uboom X is the better pick: it ranks #1 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality (rated 4.7/5), against #63 (rated 2.9/5) for the Soundcore Motion Boom+. If you want one new, the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus replaces the Soundcore Motion Boom+ and is rated 3.6/5 at $179.99.

EarFun Uboom X vs Soundcore Motion Boom+

The EarFun Uboom X is the better-sounding, deeper-bass choice. Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Its bass reaches about 38Hz before falling 10dB, against 52Hz for the Soundcore Motion Boom+. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 20 for the Soundcore Motion Boom+. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Soundcore Motion Boom+ lacks. The catch: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible.

The Soundcore Motion Boom+ is the lighter choice. 80W stereo from dual 30W woofers + dual 10W tweeters with titanium drivers for treble clarity. At 5.3 lbs (2.4 kg) it weighs much less than the EarFun Uboom X at 9 lbs (4.1 kg). The catch: Default presets are all warm sounding with rolled off treble.

Buy the EarFun Uboom X only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, buy the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus, which replaces the Soundcore Motion Boom+.

EarFun Uboom X ranking card

Pros: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Tribit Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the EarFun Uboom L. Measured bass extension of ~38Hz (-10dB).

Cons: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible. Some users have reported sound interruption issues when running two in TWS, though not on every source device, and disabling AAC resolves it where it occurs. Discontinued.

Setup: Please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. The Earfun app has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. Oluv has a newer firmware pack that brings it up a few more notches of neutral

Soundcore Motion Boom+: $122.42 after $40 coupon Discontinued Amazon eBay

Soundcore Motion Boom+ ranking card

Newer model: the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus, ranked higher, rated 3.6/5, released May 2024. It adds built-in mic and AAC. See every Soundcore Boom generation.

Pros: 80W stereo from dual 30W woofers + dual 10W tweeters with titanium drivers for treble clarity. 13,400mAh battery for 20 hours (12-15 at high volume). IP67 waterproof, floats, rugged build inspires confidence. Bluetooth 5.3 multipoint pairing, Soundcore app EQ, PartyCast 2.0 mode. USB-C input, USB-A output for powerbank. Measured bass extension of 52Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Default presets are all warm sounding with rolled off treble. Will need a custom EQ to get closer to neutral. A shrill sounding 6kHz peak comes out when volume is above about 60%. Not much deeper bass than a Soundcore Motion Boom and a lot less deep bass than other speakers in the class. Discontinued.
