Short answer: the Onn Large Party gen 2 on price, the Earfun Uboom X on tuning. The Onn is an insane value at $129 versus $159.99, though it is not quite as loud as the old one. The Oluv-tuned Uboom X is the more polished pick, with the horrible out-of-the-box 0.33 firmware and EQ as its one glaring weakness.
On the Earfun Uboom X side: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. The tradeoff: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible.
The case for the Onn Large Party gen 2: An insane value speaker. The tradeoff: Not quite as loud as the old one.
One note: the Earfun Uboom X is discontinued, but it still ranks #1 of 75 boombox speakers by sound quality, ahead of most of what is still sold new, so it is worth considering used.
Buy the Earfun Uboom X at $159.99 for a boombox speaker, or the Onn Large Party gen 2 at $129 for a party speaker instead.
Battery life favors the Earfun Uboom X: rated for 30 hours against 12 hours for the Onn Large Party gen 2.
Water resistance is not close: the Earfun Uboom X is rated at IP67 (brief submersion), well ahead of the Onn Large Party gen 2 at IPX4 (splashing).

The Two Speakers In Full
Earfun Uboom X: $159.99 Discontinued Myearfun eBay
Pros: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the Earfun Uboom L. Measured bass extension of ~38Hz (-10dB).
Cons: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible. Some users have reported sound interruption issues when running two in TWS, though not on every source device, and disabling AAC resolves it where it occurs. Discontinued.
Setup: Please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. The Earfun app has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. Onn Large Party gen 2: $129 Walmart eBay
Pros: A remarkably full-featured, manageable 9.5kg party speaker: wheels and handle, FM radio, aux, USB-A charging, mic and guitar inputs with karaoke echo, and Party Sync. Independent testing confirms bass with real impact and enough output for a large room; it is a clear improvement over the Gen 1 for low-end weight.
Cons: The low price shows in the refinement. Consumer Reports found boomy bass, hazy/grainy mids, a prominent smeared treble and a narrow, two-dimensional soundfield; it also notes distortion or other audio issues. There is no app or EQ to tame the tuning, and IPX4 only covers splashes rather than rain or immersion.
