Short answer: the Bugani Brief Pro, if you are buying new. The Earfun Uboom X ranks higher than it (#1 vs #27 of 85 boombox speakers, 4.7/5 vs 3.8/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Bugani Brief Pro is still sold new at $99.98.
The UBoom X is the proven one. It is extremely neutral, reaches deeper than the Tribit Stormbox Blast and measured about 110dB. In a side by side sound test, listeners were split: some heard the Brief Pro as cleaner at full volume, others preferred the UBoom X’s more accurate treble, faster bass and wider stereo.
At high volume the Brief Pro can turn harsh and loses bass. The evidence on the Brief Pro is listening comparisons rather than measurements.
The UBoom X is discontinued, so the Brief Pro is the one you can buy new.
Buy the Bugani Brief Pro if you want one new; the Earfun Uboom X is discontinued, so only look for it used.

The Two Speakers In Full
Earfun Uboom X: $159.99 Discontinued eBay
Pros: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the Earfun Uboom L. Measured bass extension of ~38Hz (-10dB).
Cons: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible. Some users have reported sound interruption issues when running two in TWS, though not on every source device, and disabling AAC resolves it where it occurs. Discontinued.
Setup: Please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. The Earfun app has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. Bugani Brief Pro: $99.98 Amazon eBay
Pros: Crystal clear and detailed with good separation of instruments and vocals, impressive for a two-way layout of two 4” woofers and two 44mm tweeters on 80W RMS. It plays louder than the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 and, in side by side sound tests, many listeners preferred it to the JBL Xtreme 4 and found it close to the EarFun UBoom X. A claimed 12 hours of battery, Bluetooth 5.3 and stereo pairing, at a low price.
Cons: It turns a little harsh and fatiguing at 80% to 100% volume while losing bass, and it doesn’t reach as deep as the Go + Play 3, which reviewers still preferred for its thicker, richer bass. Nothing so far shows how neutral its tuning is: the evidence is listening comparisons, not measurements. No published water rating.
