The passive Eurolive actually measures better on independent data. High-quality independent measurement data gives it a 3.39 ideal-subwoofer preference score with 77Hz extension. The Vantec 15A’s medium-quality vendor data returns a lower 2.49 score, one of the lower results in this ranking, and its own review notes that trails well below its own 12-inch Vantec sibling’s measured result.
The Vantec 15A is active and feature-rich, at a real cost. Its 135dB claimed peak, 90 degree x 50 degree coverage, and Class-D amplification with Bluetooth control via the DAS Audio app carry over the Vantec 12A’s design into a 15-inch cabinet. At 56.2 lbs (25.5 kg) its own review notes it is meaningfully heavier than the 12-inch model.
The Eurolive is genuinely a budget entry point. Being passive, it needs an external amplifier and crossover to work at all, and its own review is candid that RMS power handling and build quality trail every powered alternative in this ranking, with a narrower 70 degree x 40 degree pattern. At $1,818.99 it costs a small fraction of the Vantec 15A’s $329.
Buy the Behringer Eurolive B215XL if you already own amplification and a crossover and want a genuinely low-cost 15-inch two-way box.

Frequency Response Compared
Both speakers’ spinorama measurements, overlaid. A flatter line is more neutral: peaks sound forward or harsh, dips sound recessed. Each curve is shifted so its average from 300 Hz to 3 kHz sits at 0 dB, so loudness differences between the two are removed and only the shape is compared.
