If you are buying new, get the RCF ART 735-A MK5.
The Vantec 15A has a confirmed but weak measured result. Its medium-quality vendor data reaches 56Hz measured extension but only a 2.87 ideal-subwoofer preference score, one of the lower results in this size class and well below its own smaller Vantec 12A sibling’s measured result. In its favor, it carries over the Vantec 12A’s Class-D amplification and Bluetooth control through the DAS Audio app, plus DAScontrol and DASlink app networking, and claims a higher 135dB peak.
The ART 735-A MK4 has no computed score at all, but real hardware advantages. Its large 3-inch compression-driver voice coil and roughly 53Hz measured extension give it useful vocal headroom and bass reach in a manageable 47.2 lbs (21.4 kg) enclosure, notably lighter than the Vantec 15A’s 56.2 lbs (25.5 kg), with RCF’s FiRPHASE, EQ, limiting and protection built in. Its cons state it is discontinued and eclipsed by current 9-series and MK5 models, and the low-quality vendor data is truncated and does not yield a preference score.
Buy the ART 735-A MK4 if you find remaining stock and want its lighter cabinet and larger compression driver, accepting it has been superseded.
Buy the Vantec 15A if you want Bluetooth app control and a currently supported model, even with its weaker confirmed preference score.
