What the Dali Katch G2 gets right: Pretty neutral Set against that: Loses bass quickly after 40% volume. A lot of compression artifacts at high volume. External AC power brick for charging. Horribly overpriced. Nearly identical to the Dali Katch G1. Reverb added to the output screws up the imaging.
On the Sony SRS-XG300 side: IP67 dust/waterproof rating. Bluetooth 5.2 with multipoint pairing, LDAC codec support. Retractable carry handle for easy portability. Big boomy bass-forward sound, excellent for parties. Fast-charging: 10 minutes gives 70 minutes playback. The catch: Overly expensive. Bass not as deep as competitors. Upper mids peak. Hollow sounding. Rolled off treble. Not much clarity. Does not float. Speaker will not remain at max volume and will turn itself down automatically.
Buy the Sony SRS-XG300. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Dali Katch G2 and costs less, so the other one has nothing left to offer.
If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Dali Katch G2. It ranks near the bottom of the 77 large speakers, so look higher up the list instead.
