Neither is a straightforward current-model purchase, but the Beosound A1 is the safer all-round portable speaker. It adds IP67 protection, USB-C charging, deeper bass and a microphone, while the Minirig 3 trades those conveniences for higher claimed output, longer battery life and a modular subwoofer path. Both are discontinued, and the Minirig’s reported pairing and reliability problems make its niche appeal harder to recommend.

One note: the B&O Beosound A1 is no longer sold new, but at #9 of 142 medium speakers by sound quality it still outranks most current models, so used is worth considering.
Buy the B&O Beosound A1 if you find one in good condition and want a weatherproof, travel-friendly speaker with better everyday connectivity.
Buy the Minirig 3 only if modular wired or wireless expansion is specifically your goal and you accept its older charging system and ownership risks.
Water resistance is not close: the B&O Beosound A1 is rated at IP67 (brief submersion), well ahead of the Minirig 3 at Splash resistant (splashing).

Pros: Modular, can easily attach a subwoofer.
Cons: Not stereo. Calls itself splash resistant and has no official water rating. App is buggy. Wireless TWS pairing is buggy. A bit expensive. Has reliability issues more often than any other speaker. Discontinued; Minirig now sells only the Minirig 4, and the old product page redirects to it. Discontinued.
