Watch for: Measured sensitivity is very low at about 81.6dB and the 4-ohm load benefits from a capable amplifier. On-axis smoothness (0.221) is only fair, predicted in-room smoothness is poor at 0.160, and the raw no-subwoofer preference score is 2.96.

What the Micca MB42X G2 offers: An inexpensive compact passive speaker with a proper crossover and broad, useful dispersion. Its local Spinorama result reaches 5.92 with a subwoofer from a 3.30 raw score, excellent value when paired with basic amplification. Watch for: The 58Hz measured extension and small woofer limit deep bass and maximum output. Four-ohm loading can be demanding for the cheapest mini amplifiers, and the vinyl cabinet is plainly finished.
