#80 Wharfedale Diamond 12.0: $349.00 per pair Passive Estimated Crutchfield eBay
Larger models: the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 (ranked higher, rated 3.9/5), the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 (estimated 4.1/5), the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 (estimated 3.9/5) and the Wharfedale Diamond 12.4 (estimated 4.1/5).
Pros: Ultra-compact 2-way bookshelf speaker in Wharfedale’s acclaimed Diamond 12 series, engineered in collaboration with Karl-Heinz Fink. Features a proprietary 4-inch Klarity composite woofer with low-damping surround and a 1-inch woven polyester dome tweeter with a precision waveguide. Intelligent Spot Bracing inside the multi-layer cabinet minimizes enclosure resonances, yielding smooth midrange neutrality and refined directivity matching the measured Diamond 12.1.
Cons: Rating estimated from measured sibling Diamond 12.1. 4-inch woofer naturally restricts low-frequency output below 70Hz (-3dB), so pairing with a subwoofer is strongly advised for full-range listening.
How it compares: Just above it: XSA Labs Vanguard - $646 more, 4Hz lower bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Polk Signature Elite ES10 - $150 cheaper.
