#9 Revel Ultima2 Voice2: $8,000 each Discontinued eBay
Pros: Revel’s former flagship center: a 1” beryllium dome tweeter, a 5.25” titanium cone midrange and two 8” titanium cone woofers in a sealed cabinet. Revel’s measurements show very low on-axis deviation (0.23), consistent directivity (2.7dB directivity index deviation) and a smooth predicted in-room response (0.87), for a preference score of 5.37 that reaches 7.77 with an ideal subwoofer. Bass reaches 63.9Hz (-3dB) and about 36Hz (-10dB).
Cons: The measurements are Revel’s own. It weighs 28.2kg and needs a sturdy shelf or its stand, and its 3.6 ohm minimum impedance calls for a capable amplifier. The Ultima2 line has been discontinued with no direct replacement.
How it compares: Just above it: JBL Performance PC600 - $7500 cheaper, 2Hz higher bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Ascend Acoustics Sierra Horizon V2 - $6002 cheaper, 1Hz lower bass extension (-3dB).
