#16 Revel Concerta2 C25: $750 each Discontinued eBay
Pros: A compact sealed two-way center with a 1” tweeter in Revel’s acoustic lens waveguide between two 5.25” aluminum woofers. Audio Science Review measured a listening window within 2.1dB from 300Hz to 5kHz and consistent directivity (2.93dB directivity index deviation), for a preference score that reaches 7.42 with an ideal subwoofer. Measured bass extension of 117.2Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Bass rolls off very early, at 117.2Hz (-3dB) and about 66Hz (-10dB), so it needs a subwoofer crossed over above the usual 80Hz, and its score without one is 4.18. Horizontal coverage is narrow (about ±20 degrees). It is no longer sold by major retailers.
How it compares: Just above it: Revel Performa3 C205 - $250 more. Just below it: Pioneer SP-C22 - $675 cheaper, 1Hz lower bass extension (-3dB).
