#12 Infinity Reference RC263: $499.95 each Discontinued eBay
Pros: A true three-way center: a 1” CMMD tweeter in a waveguide and a 4” CMMD midrange in its own sub-enclosure between two 6.5” woofers. Audio Science Review measured a listening window within 2.1dB from 300Hz to 5kHz and very consistent directivity (2.69dB directivity index deviation), with even horizontal coverage out to about ±55 degrees, so off-center seats hear the same voice balance. Preference score 4.71, rising to 7.50 with an ideal subwoofer. Measured bass extension of 79.1Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Bass rolls off at 79.1Hz (-3dB) and about 53Hz (-10dB), so pair it with a subwoofer. Infinity’s home speaker line has ended, so it is only available used. Discontinued.
How it compares: Just above it: KEF R6 Meta - $1700 more, 1Hz lower bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Ascend Acoustics Sierra Horizon - $990 more.
