#6 Infinity Reference RC252: $299 each Discontinued eBay
Pros: A 2.5-way center with a 1” CMMD tweeter in a waveguide between two 5.25” woofers. Infinity’s own measurements show a smooth predicted in-room response (0.89) and very consistent directivity (2.75dB directivity index deviation), for a preference score of 5.48 that reaches 8.16 with an ideal subwoofer, among the highest of any center ranked here.
Cons: The measurements are Infinity’s own, not independently verified. Bass rolls off at 87.2Hz (-3dB) and about 49Hz (-10dB), so it needs a subwoofer. It is no longer made, since Harman ended Infinity’s home speaker line.
How it compares: Just above it: KEF Reference 2 Meta - $5701 more, 1Hz lower bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: KEF R2 Meta - $1301 more.
