#170 DIYSG HT-8: $164 per pair kit Discontinued eBay
Same family: the DIYSG HT-10 (larger bookshelf, ranked higher, rated 3.3/5) and the DIYSG HT-12 (larger bookshelf, ranked higher, rated 3.5/5).
Pros: A DIY home theater kit from DIY Sound Group with an 8” woofer and a compression driver on a waveguide, built for high output. Measurements show a preference score of 2.37 that reaches 6.18 with an ideal subwoofer, with 0.44 listening window deviation. Measured bass extension of 138.5Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The on-axis response is very uneven (2.18 average deviation). It is a kit to build yourself and DIY Sound Group no longer lists it. Bass reaches 138.5Hz (-3dB) and about 60Hz (-10dB). That data is low quality. Discontinued.
How it compares: Just above it: Klipsch RP-600M - $76 more. Just below it: Harbeth M30.3 XD2 - $6126 more.
