#559 KZ EDX Lite: $18.99 Amazon $18.99 eBay
Pros: A very cheap single dynamic driver earphone with a confident, fun tuning: sub-bass and bass both sit about 4 dB above target, so electronic and hip hop tracks hit with real rumble. The midrange from 1 to 3 kHz lands almost exactly on target, keeping vocals clear despite the boosted low end. Its preference score of 67, from the median of 9 hobbyist measurements on squig.link, rates a little above the KZ EDX Ultra, and 108 dB sensitivity with a 23 ohm load runs easily from any phone.
Cons: An 8.7 dB peak near 8.1 kHz adds sizzle and can make cymbals and S sounds sharp on bright recordings. The bass emphasis that makes it fun also tilts the balance warm, so neutral listeners may find it heavy, and the Moondrop Space Travel 2 rates a bit higher at a similar low price.
